Artist Statement

Hi! My name is Mikaela Greene, the sole person behind Greene Is Gold. 

 

I am a 23 year old interdisciplinary artist based in New York City who has been pursuing various forms of art professionally since I was 12 years old. No matter the medium, I have always found surrounding myself in nature to be my source of peace. This is also where a lot of my inspiration comes from, hence the heavy nature focus on the pieces you will find here. 

 

Greene Is Gold is a dream I brought to life in November 2020, right in the midst of the pandemic, during my junior year of college. Initially I was in school to obtain my BA in Film Production but after having some time with Greene Is Gold under my belt by graduation, I ultimately decided this was the true path for me. I love the freedom I now have to dapple in as many mediums as I so choose. It has allowed me to create pieces that push the boundaries of what wearable art can really be, all thanks to the immense support I have received along the way. For that I am eternally grateful.

 

My hope is that no matter where you are from or what you are going through, you find a piece or two of mine that give you that same calamity being surrounded by nature can provide. 

 

Since I create every piece myself and also am responsible for all other ends of the business, collections will be available in fairy small batches every other week.
